Network Marketing vs. Affiliate Marketing. So you are interested in starting an online business and are doing some research. You keep seeing network marketing advertisements and affiliate marketing and you’re wondering what the difference is right? Don’t fret this article is here to help. Now let me start by saying this is not stating which one is better and which one you should go with. I myself am involved in both and think they both are great ways to make money online.
Let’s start with network marketing. Networking marketing or multi-level marketing (MLM) is a business based on products and business opportunities. Let me explain. In a Network marketing company, you do not own the product you simply are a representative of that company, selling their products and signing up more reps. The more people you sign up as reps in your business the bigger your download and bigger potential for income. Network Marketing is great for people who love to interact with other people, have a passion for helping people succeed in their own businesses, and are ready to work. A lot of Network Marketing companies and businesses get a bad name because people sign up for the business and then don’t do anything with it and think they are going to get rich overnight. Network marketing just like any other business requires hard work, dedication, persistence and passion to be successful.
Affiliate marketing is where you offer products and services of another company. This is mostly done through email marketing, blogging, video marketing etc. If you have a niche blog and want to monetize then affiliate marketing may be the way to go for you. You find companies like amazon, eBay, etc. Almost every company now these days has some sort of affiliate program you can join. Most Affiliate programs are free to join but pay a low percent usually between 4-10% commissions of products you sell. With Affiliate Marketing you get a custom link that you refer people to and if someone buys something you get paid. That is affiliate marketing in a nut shell. Affiliate marketing is great for bloggers, podcasters, vloggers etc. as they don’t really need to talk to the people and try to sign them up for a business. Your market is completely different than that of a network marketer. With network marketing you are looking for people who want to start their own business, Affiliate marketers are marketing their niches, products and services to their tribe or viewers of their content. Not offering a business opportunity just offering goods for sale and making a commission.
So which one is best for you? Well that really depends on your personality and what you are looking for. If you are a people person and love talking to people and have a passion to help other people succeed, then go to Network Marketing. If you love creating content and don’t really want to sell an opportunity but just want to monetize your content, then affiliate marketing is for you.
I personally love both and believe that in any business you should have multiple streams of income. That is why I do both. It gives me something to offer to everyone.
